2005/2006
Our racing experience began in 2005 and 2006 as “Racing For The Kids” with races in Lake Wales on the shores of the Florida Lions Camp at Tiger Lake. This was done as a fundraiser for the camp to raise money for maintenance and repairs after the 3 hurricanes in 2004. These races were a mixture of stock and pro’s in conjunction with Peace River Outboard.
2007
2007 began “Race For The Kids”. This race we held at Lake Wales, also benefiting the Florida Lions Camp. The camp is for children and adults with varying abilities. This was in conjunction with the Title Series.
2008
2008, “Race For The Kids’ held a race in conjunction with the USTS also at Lake Wailes and the proceeds went to the Kiwanis of Lake Wales. Their project was “Barney’s Dream” an all inclusive playground for children with varying abilities.
Also, in 2008 we held the “Worlds 08” Championship Race in Lake Alfred. The City of Lake Alfred, Lake Alfred Lions Club and the Auburndale Boy Scout Troop 115 all benefited from this.
2009
Unfortunately, in 2009 with the economic problems we did not hold any race. But during this time we became a non-profit (501c3) organization and became “RACE FOR THE KIDS FOUNDATION”.
2010
March 2010 we held a stock outboard and one Pro class race again on Lake Wailes in Lake Wales. This time we donated to Keep Polk County Beautiful and a church youth group. Keep Polk County Beautiful website is www.keeppolkcountybeautiful.org
We diligently worked toward the “Worlds 10”, also in Lake Alfred. The date for this race was October 22nd – 24th, 2010. Entires from around the world were represented from Italy, Germany, Hungary, Estonia, China, Austria, Holland and of course, the USA!
2011
We have been working to secure a site in 2011, but due to economic conditions, we have not succeeded.
